Double Barrel Shotgun vs AR-15 for Home Defense

You have heard from the likes of Crazy Joe Biden and Slick Willy Clinton on the virtues of a Double Barrel Shotgun for home protection.  Of course their Secret Service details have not given up either their semi-auto Sig Sauer pistols loaded with 15+1 .357sig hollow point bullets or their 5.26 caliber modern sporting carbines with standard 30 round magazine capacity.  How do you protect your family from the growing home invasion threat in the United States?

In over 40 states you can decide the best way to protect your family in your home.  If you live in New York or New Jersey where home invasions are an epidemic, you need to move or hire retired law enforcement officers to protect your family.  Retired law enforcement officers are exempt from the AR-15 ban and 7 round magazine capacity limit imposed on the rest of you law abiding citizens.

The Secret Service has decided the best way to protect both Crazy Joe and Slick Willie.  Im comfortable following their lead to protect my family in our home.

Im on the way to the 2013 NRA Annual Meeting.  Hope to see many of you in Houston.

Hoplophobia - the Homophobia of Today's Progressives

HOPLOPHOBIA - irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against guns and firearms
HOMOPHOBIA- irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.

In America today both the main stream media and education system constantly praise homosexuals as heroes while vilifying all guns and firearms owners.  The message is crystal clear: All homosexuals are good. All gun owners are bad.  The Second Amendment no longer applies.

There is no greater danger to our Constitutional Republic and the Freedoms we are guaranted in the Bill of Rights, than Progressives.  PERIOD.
David Cole Withrow is a Princeton, North Carolina High School honors student who was arrested Monday and charged with a felony for having a shotgun in his truck in the school parking lot.

Yesterday, Todd Starnes reported on FOX News and Commentary that Eagle Scout Cole Withrow was just a few weeks from graduating with honors from his North Carolina high school, but now the active church member is facing a felony weapons charge and a precarious future after accidentally leaving a shotgun in his pickup truck in the school parking lot.

Most members of the Johnston County community, just southeast of Raleigh believe the 18-year-old is paying far too big a price for an honest mistake. Withrow had been skeet shooting with friends a day before, and only noticed he had left his shotgun in his truck on Monday morning as he reached to grab his book bag, said family friend Kimberly Boykin. When he realized his mistake, rather than leave school grounds, he went to the front office to call his mother for help.

“He didn’t know what to do,” Boykin, whose son is friends with Withrow, told Fox News. “If you jump in the truck and leave, then they get you for skipping school. Once you are there you have to say.

“I think it’s an injustice for this young man,” she added. “He’s a good guy. He’s loved by his classmates and his teachers. You don’t become an Eagle Scout by being a bad seed.”

She said the school district is sending a very bad message to students. Ya think?  A 17 year old Rapper in Chicago recently received probation for pointing a loaded handgun at a police officer.  Chicago is the largest Gun Free Zone in America yet has more gun crime, including murder than any other city in America.

Withrow, who did his senior class project on gun safety, locked the gun in his truck before going to call his mother. But when he asked her to come and take the gun, the trouble started.

“He was overheard in a private conversation with his mother explaining what happened,” Boykin said. “He could have told a story, but he told the truth.”

A spokesperson for Johnston County Schools confirmed to Fox News that they found the shotgun in Withrow’s locked vehicle.

“The law is very clear when a person knowingly and willingly brings a weapon onto educational property,” spokesperson Tracey Peedin Jones said. “The situation was turned over to law enforcement immediately.”

Boykin said he was also expelled for 365 days – meaning that he will not be able to graduate from high school.

NRA News reported last night that two teachers received 3 days suspension, after they previously self reported accidently leaving their hunting guns in vehicles parked at the same school. The teachers were not arrested nor charged with a crime.

ABC News is reporting that according to law enforcement officials, punishments are not the same for students and school administrators who commit crimes on school property in Johnston County.

One day after a Johnston County high school senior was expelled for having an unloaded gun on campus, ABC11 learned administrators only suspended an assistant principal for three days at the same school for a similar incident last year.

Withrow’s arrest has sparked outrage across this small town, southeast of Raleigh. A Facebook page has been launched to generate support for the boy – and students have launched a Twitter hash-tag “#FREECOLE.”

“He is very honest and respectable and would never intentionally try to hurt anyone,” said classmate Kelcie Thomas. “It was an honest mistake and my whole school is backing him up and supporting him fully.”

The Withrow family is not talking to the media on the advice of their attorney – but Boykin said the family is just heartbroken.

The school system is standing by their decision.

“Administration reacted promptly and the proper procedures and protocol were followed,” Jones said. “The situation was turned over to law enforcement immediately. As a result of our investigation, it is our best determination that students and staff were safe at all times.”

Boykin said the problem is that the laws are black and white.

“There’s no room for gray area,” she said. “There’s no room for discretion for human error.”

While his future remains unclear, Boykin said an encounter last week sums up the character of Cole Withrow.

“The kids got their caps and gowns on Friday and after school a group of them went to a local Mexican restaurant,” she recounted.

“They were being loud teenagers and carrying on – but when the waiter brought their food – the table got quiet. They all bowed their heads and they said the blessing. Cole was one of those kids.”

Boykin said she cried when another mom told her that story.

“They don’t always make the right decisions,” she said. “But I don’t know what other kind of decision he could have made at that point.”

Like many in this town of 1,000 residents, Boykin is dumbfounded.

“Honestly, my heart just broke,” she said. “I know that it was just an honest mistake.”

Coles future is uncertain. He was admitted to Campbell University and East Carolina University to attend school in fall. He was also awarded scholarships, but because he is currently charged with a felony and will not graduate, he will not able to attend college and could face prison.

Wake up America.  Progressives are the problem and we the people are the solution.

The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that theyre ignorant; its just that they know so much that isnt so. -Ronald Reagan

Ruger Announces Earnings - Time to Get out of Connecticut

Progressives are the most intolerant citizens in America.  They control the media and the education system in the entire country.  But they control government in less than ten states.  I expect that number to fall after the  2014 midterm elections.  Those of us on the right should thank the left for making their gun control agenda the focus of Obamas second term.

Gun sales continue to rise in the U.S.  Over 67 million firearms have been purchased since Obama was elected POTUS.  Ammo shelf life is about an hour (when you can find it).  Its time for the gun manufacturers to get out of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York.  They have the money to move and now is the time.  Is there any other business that would toletrate having their headquarters in a state that makes it a felony to own their product?

Sturm, Ruger was founded in 1949 and is one of the nations leading manufacturers of high-quality firearms for the commercial sporting market. Sturm, Ruger is headquartered in Southport, CT, with manufacturing facilities located in Newport, NH and Prescott, AZ.

Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) announced yesterday that for the first quarter of 2013 the Company reported net sales of $155.9 million and fully diluted earnings of $1.20 per share, compared with net sales of $112.3 million and fully diluted earnings of 79¢ per share in the first quarter of 2012.

The Company also announced today that its Board of Directors declared a dividend of 49¢ per share for the first quarter, for shareholders of record as of May 10, 2013, payable on May 24, 2013. This dividend varies every quarter because the Company pays a percent of earnings rather than a fixed amount per share. This dividend is approximately 40% of net income.

Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Fifer made the following observations related to the Companys results:

• Our earnings increased 53% from the first quarter of 2012, driven by the 39% growth in sales and our ongoing focus on continuous improvement in our operations.

• New product introductions were a significant component of our sales growth as new product sales represented $53.3 million or 35% of firearm sales in the first quarter of 2013. New product introductions in the first quarter of 2013 included the LC380 pistol and the SR45 pistol.

• The estimated sell-through of our products from independent distributors to retailers in the first quarter of 2013 increased 12% from the first quarter of 2012. This estimated unit sell-through was effectively limited to first quarter production because distributor inventory totaled only 59,200 units at December 31, 2012. For reference, at December 31, 2011, the distributor inventory totaled 135,600 units, allowing Q1 2012 sell-through to exceed Q1 2012 production by 22%. During the first quarter of 2013, National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background checks (as adjusted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation) increased 46%.

Cash generated from operations during the first quarter of 2013 was $30.4 million. At March 30, 2013, our cash and cash equivalents totaled $45.6 million. Our current ratio is 1.6 to 1 and we have no debt.

In the first quarter of 2013, capital expenditures totaled $7.7 million, much of it related to new products and the expansion of production capacity. We expect to invest approximately $30 million for capital expenditures during 2013.

In the first quarter of 2013, the Company returned $7.8 million to its shareholders through the payment of dividends.

At March 30, 2013, stockholders equity was $111.6 million, which equates to a book value of $5.78 per share, of which $2.36 per share was cash and equivalents.

Get the hell out of Connecticut!

Progressives Lie About Background Checks to Advance Political Agenda

If you go to a sporting goods store and buy a firearm, you have to pass an FBI background check to make the purchase. If you buy a gun from a rented space at a gun show, you have to have a background check. If you buy a gun across state lines on the internet, it has to go through a licensed FFL dealer who runs a background check. The same goes for Wal-Mart, flea market dealers, the vast majority of gun purchases.

The “gun show loophole” you’ve heard so much about simply means that private individuals can sell a gun to each other without asking the federal government for permission.  Private sales dont require the $25 - $150 FFL transfer fee and background check (the cost for a check in D.C.) to sell a firearm to a family member or friend.

Background checks are a relatively new priority for Obama’s Justice Department, which only prosecuted 44 of the 48,000 felons and fugitives who submitted background checks to purchase a firearm (and were denied because of the functioning system) in 2012. When the NRA pointed out this out to Biden, the Vice President explained that they “simply don’t have the time or manpower to prosecute everybody who lies on a form”.

Yet, Biden and Obama tell us that 40% of gun buyers purchase guns without getting an FBI background check. Of course this number is an intentionally made up lie to support their agenda. But there are thousands of private friend and family transfers a year. Since Obama was elected President, the FBI has performed over 65 million background checks for gun purchases.  Where will the government find the manpower to investigate the additional 40% of background checks?

Aside from practicality and enforceability concerns, there are the ever-present privacy concerns. The Progressives are very upset that the ACLU is against universal background checks, citing record keeping on law-abiding citizens as a “significant” privacy concern:

“We think that that kind of record-keeping requirement could result in keeping long-term detailed records of purchases and creation of a new government database.”
“And they come to use databases for all sorts of different purposes. For example, the National Counterterrorism Center recently gave itself the authority to collect all kinds of existing federal databases and performed terrorism related searches regarding those databases. They essentially exempted themselves from a lot of existing Privacy Act protections.”

The Deputy Director of the National Institute of Justice wrote in a recent internal memo that the effectiveness of universal background checks would “require gun registration”. (It also went on to note that “gun buybacks are ineffective”, that a high-capacity magazine ban wouldn’t have any discernible effect, that “assault weapons are not a major contributor to gun crime”, and that even a complete elimination of all “assault” weapons “would not have a large impact on gun homicides”.)

When your own Department of Justice thinks your ideas are bad ones, it’s time to move on. Yet Progressives are digging in and promising to bring the Manchin-Toomey-Schumer amendment back to the Senate floor for another vote this summer.

But the ACLU and Department of Justice are not alone in their rejection of universal background checks. Recently, the most comprehensive survey ever conducted on the views of 15,000 law enforcement professionals asked about the relationship between recently-dead legislation proposals and violent crime. 79.6% of law enforcement officers said that expanded background checks would do nothing to reduce violent crime. Here are three other questions and their responses by 15,000 law enforcement officers posted by Kontradictions :

These figures speak for themselves. The nation’s law enforcement officers, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Justice Department aren’t on board with Manchin-Toomey-Schumer but the Progressive Propaganda machine is trying to tell you 90% of Americans support it?

They lie!   Only 4% of Americans think that gun control is an important political issue.

Ambushed Police Officers- The Unintended Consequences of Gun Ban Laws

Investigators believe that the suspected Boston bombers killed MIT police officer Sean A. Collier on the night of April 18 in a failed attempt to steal his gun, The New York Times reports.

Police told the Times that surveillance video shows a pair of men, believed to be Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, approaching Collier’s squad car from behind at about 10:30 p.m. and shooting him to death before attempting to take his gun.

“He had a triple-lock holster, and they could not figure it out,” a law enforcement official told the Times. “There is evidence at the scene to suggest that they were going for his gun.”

Law abiding people possess 99.9% of the 300+ million firearms in the possession of civilians in the United States. By definition, law abiding citizens dont commit crimes.  They follow the law.  Criminals and crazies do not.

If you watched any of the coverage of the Boston bombing manhunt, you are now aware that the overwhelming majority of police officers, including those in gun banning states like Massachusetts, are armed with both high capacity pistols AND modern sporting rifles (gun grabbers call them assault weapons).

When the government bans modern sporting rifles and pistol magazines that hold more than seven bullets, it is putting an even bigger target on law enforcement officers.  Criminals, crazies and terrorists are not going to obey the law.  Criminals will target police officers for banned firearms, especially in states where law enforcement is the only source for these firearms.

Targeting officers to obtain firearms is one of the primary reasons that surveys by the Police Federation of England and Wales have continued to show police officers considerable resistance to routine arming. In the Federations most recent (2006) Officer/Arming survey, 82% of respondents were against the routine arming of police.

No one seriously believes disarming law enforcement officers in America is an option.  But the primary goal of gun banning Progressives is the incremental disarmament of civilians.  If successful, law enforcement officers who already are in great peril, will be targeted in increased numbers because they will be the only source of prohibited firearms and high capacity magazines.

Gun and magazine bans for law abiding civilians create more danger to both the police and the public.  Civilian guns are 80 times more likely to be used to protect like than take life.  Women use firearms over 200,000 times a year to defend against sexual assaults.

Nations with strict gun control laws have substantially higher murder rates than the United States.  In fact, the nine European nations with the lowest gun ownership rate have a combined murder rate 3 times that of the nine Europeans nations with the highest gun ownership rate.

In the UK where possession of handguns is illegal, violent crime occurs at the rate of 2,034 per 1,000 people. The rate in the United States is 466 violent crimes per 1,000 people.

With one exception, every public mass shooting in the USA since 1950 has taken place in a GUN FREE ZONE, where civilians are banned from carrying guns.

West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin said yesterday on “Fox News Sunday”  that he plans to re-introduce a bill to require gun buyers to undergo criminal and mental health background checks for all online and gun show sales.

The bill will have an effect on law abiding citizens ability to legally purchase firearms.  It will not only have no effect on criminals ability to illegally obtain firearms, it will likely put police officers in greater peril as strict gun control laws in Massachusetts recently did in Boston.
