WBAP Leaving Tarrant County

WBAP/820 AM and 96.7 FM, part of Tarrant County since 1922, looks destined to move to Victory Park in Dallas with KSCS/96.3 FM as part of their sale to Atlanta-based Cumulus Media, according to Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy.

WBAP and KSCS are whats left of the radio empire Amon Carter founded in 1922 at the Star-Telegram.  They havent been part of the same company since 1997.  The stations are the home of Fort Worth-Arlington broadcasters Mark Davis, Hal Jay, Terry Dorsey and Hawkeye Louis.

The two stations are expected to leave Arlington to share a new studio with Cumulus four Dallas stations, including KTCK/1310 The Ticket and KLIF/570 AM.

Cumulus is building Victory Park studios. According to the websites, WBAP and KLIF already share a program director and will share a new sales manager.

When Tarrant Country loses a radio or TV news station to Dallas, we lose more than an office tenant.  We lose influence.  Eventually, we lose our role in the daily conversation about Dallas-Fort Worth.

Dallas County is a dysfunctional mess.  Listen to KTCK or KLIF or CBS KRLD. Except for KLIF/570 AM Wheels host Ed Wallace, a Star-Telegram columnist, those anchors rarely mention Fort Worth or Arlington. They quote Dallas newspapers and talk about nights out in Dallas.

This a huge step backward from the days when radio executive Ron Chapmans No. 1-rated stations promoted serving Dallas and Fort Worth and telling a tale of two cities.

Summer of Hell- 2011 HOTTER than 1980

Just after noon today the temperature reached 100 degrees at DFW Airport, breaking the record for the most days in a year with triple digit heat.

Today was the 70th day in 2011 with temperatures of 100 degrees or higher.  It could reach 100 tomorrow also.  But a cold front is moving in and Thursdays forecast high is 83!

2011 now holds the record for most days with triple digit temps but 1980 still holds the record for the most consecutive 100 degree days or higher at 42.  DFW reached 40 in a row this year but a quick hitting thunderstorm at the airport, stalled the temp at 97, ending the second longest consecutive day streak of at least a 100.

Congratulations Dallas Fort Worth, you survived the hottest year in history.

Record Heat Continues in North Texas

North Texas is suffering the second hottest summer on record, and the heat is not letting up anytime soon.

The high was 103 degrees yesterday at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, making it the 30th consecutive 100-degree day in the area.

That ended the hottest July since 1980.

The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth estimated that the average high for July in North Texas was 101.7 degrees.

The record for consecutive 100-degree days is 42, set in 1980. Were number 2 on the list now, but with 100+ degrees expected for the next ten days, we are on a pace to become #1.

August is often the hottest month of the year around here.

The weather service has issued an excessive heat watch, a prolonged period of dangerous hot and humid weather, through Thursday.

North Texas could feel some of the highest temperatures this year during the week. Forecasters are calling for highs of 107 to 108 degrees every day this week. The heat index is expected be over 110 degrees everyday this week.

The highest temperature during this streak was 106 on July 25. The highest temperature ever recorded at the DFW airport is 113 degrees, on June 28, 1980.

Im leaving town on Wednesday morning for a place where the temperatures never fell below 90 for a week and the high was 117 for 5 days in a row, during a July visit almost ten years ago. I didnt think Id ever take a summer vacation in the desert again!

But temperatures there have been below normal this summer and the ten day forecast is for highs around 101 and a low of 80 with less than 10% humidity.  Im not naming my destination because I get over 50 robot crawler hits a day on this website and Im not giving Lost Wages any publicity since they sent Dirty Harry back to Washington in the November 2010 general elections.

Ok, so everyone whos reading this knows where Im going but the bots dont and when Lost Wages is googled, this post wont appear in the results.  By the way, I was there in March and had not planned on going back until March 2012.  Mrs. Wolf surprised me with an all expense paid poker trip for my birthday.  Ive only played six poker sessions this year, so Im looking forward to this trip.  Ill more than double that number of sessions during this visit. Hopefully, Ill also be getting a break from the record heat in the DFW metroplex even though Ill be spending another week of summer in the desert!

John Wiley Price has "No Clue" Why FBI is Investigating Him

Yesterday, agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed multiple search warrants on Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Prices office, residence and vehicles.  Federal Agents also executed warrants against Prices longtime executive assistant, Dapheny Fain, and Prices political consultant, Kathy Neely.

John Wiley Price (JWP) says he has  no clue why the FBI and IRS are investigating him for money laundering, tax evasion, theft, bribery and misuse of public office.  On the other hand, most people I spoke  to in Dallas County are surprised it took this long for the feds to knock on Prices door.

Last week former Dallas city councilman Al Lipscomb died and the local media reacted like he was Martin Luther King.  Lipscomb was convicted of public corruption in 2000.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans overturned Lipscombes January 2000 federal conviction because, the justices wrote, U.S. District Judge Joe Kendall abused his discretion by moving the trial to Amarillo over the defenses objections. The three-judge panel ordered a new trial; Mr. Lipscomb will be free in the interim.

The appeals court did not dispute the facts presented at Lipscombs trial, which the justices ruling reiterated in lengthy detail.

At the trial, Yellow Cab Co. owner Floyd Richards testified that he had paid Mr. Lipscomb $1,000 a month for a period of years in return for favorable votes on matters affecting the cab company.

After the payments began, the appeals court wrote, Lipscomb energetically used many of the tools at the disposal of a Council member his vote, his oversight authority, his agenda-setting power, and his other parliamentary privileges to support policies favorable to Yellow Cab, even though these policies conflicted with his previous positions.

Following his conviction, Lipscomb apologized publicly for his conduct, saying that he had erred in not including the Yellow Cab payments on his financial disclosure reports.

Lipscomb and Price were close associates, one serving on the city council, the other on Commissioners Court.  Price is Dallas County Commissioner for District Three.  His constituents refer to him as, “Our Man Downtown.”  By the way, that description comes from his official county biography. And yet he doesnt have a clue why the FBI searched his home and offices today?

In Texas, county commissioners sit on the Commissioners Court and are referred to as Judges.  Heres what JWP had to say about his visit from the FBI today:

Earlier this year Price yelled out during Commissioners court, All of you are white. Go to hell.  JWP is well known for his tirades and outbursts against the white devil, but as you can see in the video above, he seemed unusually subdued today.

Price made headlines when he launched a profanity-laced tirade at a December 2009 Dallas County Commissioners Court meeting over the ongoing investigation of impropriety among Dallas Constables. Price repeatedly pounded on the desk in front of him and responded to a call from County Judge Jim Foster for order by declaring that Foster should Make me come to order!

Since 1992 Price has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault, criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, terroristic threat, aggravated assault-serious bodily injury, and sexual assault.  Price was acquitted or the charges were dismissed in all the felony cases filed against him.  But Price was convicted of misdemeanors and sentenced — first to probation, then to jail.  Im not so sure hell be as lucky this time.

Price is just one of many in a long line of corrupt public officials in Dallas County.  In late 2004, the FBI got a tip from a developer that former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill and others were pressuring him for bribes and taking bribes from others. Fourteen people were charged in 2007. Seven pleaded guilty, and the rest were convicted in various trials.

Political Correctness is a Cancer Killing Free Speech

Political Correctness (PC) is a cancer that has been spreading across America for the past decade.  Progressives are the primary carriers of this disease.  I believe that being politically incorrect at least once a day, helps keep the Marxists at bay.

The Worst Person in the World, Keith Olbermann, who most people have already forgotten, lives to be politically correct to promote the Progressive DemocRAT subversion of America.  Actually, Olbermann serves a very important purpose on earth.  Hes the face of liberal fascism. Without this despicable asshole, we might not be as aware how dangerous progressives are to the foundation of freedom in the United States.

Olbermann was fired from the Progressive Mother Ship, MSNBC, for being an asshole.  He cannot play well with others, not even fellow libtards.  But hell be back sometime this summer on some channel nobody has ever seen, unless they stumbled across it by accident while searching for FOX News on DirecTV, which is located dangerously close to CRNT, the soon to be, Worst Channel in the World.

In the meantime, @keitholbermann is spreading PC disease on Twitter.  This asshole who made over $40 million at MSNBC telling working folks  that they have a moral obligation to give more of their hard earned money to all things Obama.

ESPN’s Bill Simmons and Keith Olbermann are in a feud on Twitter again.

You may remember that back in March of 2010, the two had a very similar feud . Then it was over Simmons comparing Tiger Woods’ golf comeback to that of Muhammad Ali’s in boxing.

This time its over comments Simmons made on Twitter comparing the current state of the Kobe era in Los Angeles to that of President John F. Kennedy moments before he was assassinated in November of 1963.

Simmons tweeted: “The Kobe era just made the turn at Dealey Plaza and passed the book depository…”

Thats about a 6 on the Politically incorrect scale. Genius really. LA playing in Dallas, the Lakers not only on the verge of being swept by Dallas but losing game four of the series by 36 points!

The Worst Person in the World tweeted in response: “To those few who defended @SportsGuy33 with ‘it’s been long enough since JFK to use the assassination’ – ask his daughter, nephews, nieces”

Before that politically incorrect tweet was made on Sunday,  Mr. Wolf was in Fair Park Coliseum on Saturday night, attending Assassination City Roller Derby.  I went to Fair Park in Dallas to cheer for #1981 , Stevie Nicks Licks of the DEADLY KENNEDYS team.  Now, thats a 10 on the Politically Incorrect scale!

I was Stevies coach when she played on the Mighty Monkeys YMCA-Arlington basketball team. Hows that for a politically incorrect basketball team name?  The girls picked it out innocently. They were 10 years old.  You think the Mighty Monkeys team name would fly in this PC era?

And oh, the DKs won the bout, upsetting last years champion The Lone Star Assassins! A great time was had by all.  You made me proud Candice, huh, I mean Stevie. I will be back for more.

Next time, the Dirty Lil Secret Service will be in action against the The Lone Star Assassins in repeat of the Assassination City Roller Derby match of 1963.  I already know how this one is going to turn out even though I missed the first battle.
