GUN FREE ZONES - Good Protection for You, Not for Politicians

When I heard that Barack Hussein Obama started a petitions feature on the White House website, I thought it was a joke. But it turned out to be real. A few of the petitions have resulted in interesting responses from the White House, including one about gun free zones.

The petition asks that the armed protection for politicians, including the President and Vice President, be eliminated and replaced by a “gun free zone.”

The White House response? In so many words, they can’t eliminate their armed guards because politicians are more important than we they people.

What you peons need is  “common sense” gun control that an “overwhelming majority of Americans” support.

I’m in full agreement that politicians are under constant threat, and they absolutely need armed security to keep them safe. Homeland Security Investigations has about 7,000 agents sitting around looking for something to do. Give them the job protecting all members of Congress since we are already paying them.  Congress allocates $60 billion a year to DHS for what besides patting down air passengers and reading your email? Believe me, the less politicians that get shot, the greater chance of us keeping our concealed carry rights.  GUN FREE ZONES are NO GO ZONES for me.

Criminals and Crazies dont obtain their guns legally. They steal them or buy them illegally on the black market.  Background checks dont stop them. Obama wants to use background checks to establish a civilian gun registry. PERIOD.

If armed protection keeps political leaders safe, why wont it work in our schools? It’s clear that gun free zones are targets – the Newtown shooter chose an elementary school because it was a gun free zone, and every mass shooting since the 1950′s with one exception has been in a “gun free zone” – so why not take the target off our schools and malls and campuses by ending the absurdity that is the gun free zone?

Obviously the President understands the risks inherent to working in a gun free zone given that he doesn’t want to live his life in one. Why can’t he apply that same standard to all Americans?

Heres the full response, but it’s really not an answer so much as a call for more gun control laws that will put more targets on all our backs.

We live in a world where our elected leaders and representatives are subject to serious, persistent, and credible threats on a daily basis. Even those who are mere candidates in a national election become symbols of our country, which makes them potential targets for those seeking to do harm to the United States and its interests. In 1901, after the third assassination of a sitting President, Congress mandated that the President receive full-time protection, and that law is still in effect today. Because of it, those who are the subject of ongoing threats must receive the necessary and appropriate protection.

At the same time, all of us deserve to live in safer communities, which is why we need to take responsible, commonsense steps to reduce gun violence, even while respecting individual freedom. And let’s be clear: President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. You can see him talk about that in a previous petition response.

But the common-sense steps the President has proposed don’t infringe in any way on our Second Amendment rights. We ought to be able to keep weapons of war off the streets. We ought to close the loopholes in the background check system that make it too easy for criminals and other dangerous people to buy guns — an idea that has the support of 90 percent of people in the United States.

That’s why the President and an overwhelming majority of Americans are calling on Congress to pass gun safety legislation that closes loopholes in the background check system and makes gun trafficking a federal crime.

A minority in the Senate is blocking this common-sense legislation to reduce gun violence, but President Obama is already taking action to protect our kids with executive actions. He is taking the steps available to him as President to strengthen the existing background check system, give law enforcement officials more tools to prevent gun violence, end the freeze on gun violence research, make schools safer, and improve access to mental health care.

We Must Stand & Fight to Stop "Organizing for Action"

Organizing for Action (OFA), an organization dedicated to promoting President Obamas agenda and policies (and whose website includes an Obama campaign logo and whose URL is is in the midst of its Action Augustan advocacy initiative that includes national action days focused on issues that will include gun control.

According to a Politico article, the thrust of OFAs initiative will be to confront legislators who oppose Obamas agenda while theyre in their home districts during the congressional recess and try to get them to change their positions.  OFAs grassroots efforts will include appearances at town halls, phone banks, rallies and office visits, in an attempt to replicate the August 2009 tea party backlash Obama received andthey hopedraw local attention and coverage, and start mounting political pressure, ahead of the 2014 midterm elections.

Back in April, the Senate voted on, and rejected, the Obama Administrations gun control agenda.  Despite the claims of congressional anti-gun advocates, you know that banning private transfers of firearms, common semi-automatic rifles, and standard capacity magazines will not reduce crime or make our schools safer.  They know it, too, but they have an agenda.  Exploiting tragedy didnt get them all they wanted, so they press on, trying to pass more misguided laws and to build a case to take away our rights.

We must continue to stand firm in opposition to these new laws, and continue to fight for our Second Amendment rights.

OFA has set Wednesday, August 21 as Gun Control day.  We need to stand-up now and let our elected officials know we will not sit by and let the Constitution be trampled, nor will we be blamed for the insidious acts of criminals and lunatics.

Contact your elected officials and respectfully urge them to protect our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.  In addition to contacting your lawmakers district offices, be sure to visit them as well on August 21 to let your voice be heard.  If you arent able to personally visit, please be sure to call or write them.  Tell them to oppose any attacks on your Second Amendment rights.

Virginia Gun Crime Drops As State's Firearms Sales Soar

Amid Progressive calls nationwide for stricter gun control laws, Virginia is experiencing a trend: the states gun-related crime is declining but firearms sales are increasing.

Firearms sales rose 16 percent to a record 490,119 guns purchased from licensed gun dealers in 2012, according to sales estimates obtained by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

During the same period, major crimes committed with firearms dropped 5 percent to 4,378.

Concealed carry license/permit holders are the most law abiding citizens in the country.  Legal gun owners are not the problem either.  Progressive Gun Control has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with securing the Nanny State and laying the ground work for tyranny.

There actually is a strategy guide about waging a political gun control effort, and advice from that pamphlet is being used by backers of a gun control initiative now gathering signatures in Washington State.

The 70-plus page guide, produced last year and posted on-line by Temple Beth-El,  though the link no longer appears on the TBE website, is titled “Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging.” It offers advice on everything from using effective rhetoric to dividing National Rifle Association members from NRA leadership.

One of the people who prepared the guide was Al Quinlan, a principle of the Washington, D.C.-based firm of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR), which also has offices in London and Buenos Aires.  Among GQR’s clients are the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the Joyce Foundation, several state education associations, Defenders of Wildlife, National Public Radio and the Sierra Club. Among OMP’s clients are Planned Parenthood of America and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

On Page 45, the guide addresses Stand Your Ground laws and counsels the use of provocative substitute phrases including “Shoot First” and “Kill at Will,” asserting that these terms are “more accurate and persuasive.” In the process, it also identifies terms that should be avoided in public debate, among them the term “duty to retreat,” noting that the term may be an established legal principle, but it coveys weakness to the public and is “hard to defend.” In Washington State, court rulings dating back almost a century have enshrined the principle that there is “no duty to retreat” from an attack that occurs in a place where the victim has a right to be.

The GQR attachment circulated with the Feb. 20 e-mail offers “key points” on how to frame an effective message pushing the gun control agenda. Its first point: “The core frame should be personal and emotional—centered on ‘people’ and not on facts, laws, or legislation.”  It suggests demonizing semiautomatic rifles by stressing that “These weapons are not your grandfather’s rifle.”

The memo also suggests, “Use a few facts—but only in a way that reinforces the personal frame—not as a recitation of a list of facts without the connection to the personal anguish and loss.”

It also advises to “cite law enforcement’s support at every opportunity,” even though the overwhelming majority of law enforcement officers and Sheriffs support Second Amendment civil rights not more gun control laws.

The gun control guide also offers points on semantics by recommending the use of the phrase “stronger laws” rather than “stricter laws,” and “preventing gun violence” rather than “gun control.”

Now you know how progressives manage to stay on message, using a common language with key phrases and words that are designed to give themselves the upper hand in public debates.  Never under estimate the power of Progressive Propaganda as seen on MSNBC and most of the main stream media outlets.

Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American peoples liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all thats good.

Today's U.S. Murder Rate Half What it Was in 1980

The progressive image of a nation beset with crime doesnt fit reality. In fact, crime rates today are much lower than they were 30 years ago. The overall crime rate is less than 60 percent of what it was in 1980. Despite the growth in population in the United States over the past 30 years, there are actually fewer crimes committed now than in 1980.

In fact, crime rates are lower across the board than in the past. Today, the murder rate is half what it was in 1980. The rate for forcible rape was nearly 43 incidents per 100,000 in 1992. Today it is 27. The rate of robberies reached a high in 1990 with 639 incidents per 100,000 people. Today, the rate is nearly half that. Non-violent crime, such as burglary or theft, also has declined. The number of burglaries fell from 3.7 million in 1980 to 2.2 million.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

If you listened to the Mad Stream Media, youd think that the United States is the murder capital of the world.  In fact, nothing could be further from the proof.  Guns dont kill, liberal fascist governments kill.

Progressive Propaganda and Executive Orders Are Key Gun Banning Strategies

Since the 1980s the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been trying to use “scientific” studies to show that guns are a risk to public health. Sadly, our tax dollars are spent on these types of “studies” to further the progressive agenda.

Obama is continuing the quest to disarm law abiding citizens. In essence, he wants to do to guns what the medical profession has done with cigarettes. He wants guns to be seen as so repulsive (backed by official “studies” from institutions like the CDC).  He is trying through direct peer pressure, to make it so that people will come to see guns as being truly dirty and despicable. Having a gun would then make that individual who owns it appear the same way.

The main stream media is tasked with getting the message out on a daily basis in both news and entertainment mediums. The public education system is brain washing our youth with the same progressive propaganda. Essentially, the left wants to shame people into giving up their guns. It’s why students are being suspended from school for carving what appears to be a “gun” out of their Pop-Tart, or for wearing a shirt that references the 2nd Amendment.

Obama wants the medical profession to put gun violence under the microscope and find a way to see it as a public health problem so that it guns themselves are seen as the real problem.

Last month, a preliminary report was issued that essentially pointed out that by emphasizing that guns are a public health problem , effective solutions could be realized. What might those effective solutions be?  “A total handgun eradication program might be useful toward this end…”

Doctors Katherine Christoffel and Robert Tanz of the Children’s Hospital in Chicago proudly announced a plan ‘…to do to handguns what their profession has done to cigarettes … turn gun ownership from a personal-choice issue to a repulsive,anti-social health hazard.
