Fast and Furious Corruption and Cover Up at the Highest Levels

Congressional Republicans including Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder late last week once again requesting documents to show who was responsible for the Fast & Furious operation, and why DOJ intentionally lied to Congress early in its investigation.

The letter had a much smaller list of documents than originally requested, even though 90% of the requested since 2010, have not been submitted by DOJ.  Representative Issas  44-page contempt report and resolution requested 22 sets of documents, but the latest letter only asks for two sets of documents: all communication after Feb. 4, 2011, (when DOJ rep Ron Weich lied to Congress about the Fast and Furious program), and information disclosing who planned the operation.
In the letter, the House leaders said that if DOJ doesnt provide the requested information by mid-June, the House will vote to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress.  Dont hold your breath.  Even if Holder is held in contempt, no further action will likely be taken against him based on how he has been allowed to commit many felonies without any repercussions. This crook is still the holds the highest law enforcement position in America!

If the DOJ complies only partially with the Issa subpoena, House leadership is expected to send a contempt referral to DOJ, accusing the agency of obstructing a congressional investigation, but no criminal prosecution is likely in that case either.

Issas committee Republicans are reportedly divided on the contempt issue, and House GOP leaders arent supporting Issa either.  They apparently believe they will look less partisan (and be more elect-able) by ignoring the F&F scandal than by risking the racially-charged mudslinging from the administration and the media should they proceed to hold Eric Holder & company responsible for their felonies.
If the House issues a contempt citation, the case then goes to the US Attorney for the District of Columbia who is obligated to bring the matter before a grand jury to consider the filing of criminal charges against Holder.  But Holder is the U.S. Attorneys boss.
The Inspector General for the Department of Homeland Security is also investigating the ATFs Fast & Furious operation.  DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement HSI agents assigned to the operation.  DHS is also implicated in the scandal.  Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, has already lied to Congress so dont expect anything to come of the DHS IG investigation either.

The only solution that will insure a complete and fair investigation is to re-enact the independent counsel law and appoint an independent prosecutor.  The chances of this happening are somewhere between slim and none.

Wake up America.

Every Day is Saturday Except for Sunday

Coming up on four years since I walked off the job and became my own boss.  I love this job. It was well worth the 32 year wait.

Hardly a week goes by that I dont hear from somebody still on the job.  Most are reporting more about the culture of waste, fraud and mismanagement at ICE, aka HSI.

I seldom write about it because its not news, its the norm. Double dipping managers who retire on Friday and come back with full pay and pension (no offset) on Monday is a common theme on many of the emails.  Fearing retaliation (rightly so), agents dont contact their elective representatives but hope a blog like this can get the word out.  Im sorry to inform you, that Congress is well aware of this practice. HSI doesnt hide it from Congress. In fact they told Congress they needed to do this and get approval.

Did they lie? Of course they did.  Is Congress going to do anything about it. Of course not.

For what its worth, heres my ICE advice for the year.  Dont worry about it.  Theres nothing you or I can do about it.  ICE problems arent low on the radar, they are off the radar.  Find a way to go along to get along or get out. Life is too short to be miserable for 25-30 years.

But be careful if youre thinking of switching agencies. They all suck. You have to learn to make your own happiness.  Jobs are called work for a reason.

The economy is bad and will be for years.  Think of the lost decade in Japan. Job #1 is keeping A job. See the dirty dozen Secret Service agents for details.  6c pay and benefits are better than the rest of the G.  The retirement is excellent.  Find a hobby. Enjoy life. Dont let the man get you down.

Its up to you not your lame GS or ASAC or SAC.  Figure it out. PT Time. Pass on the poison chicken.

Have a good day.

ICE/HSI Agent Killed in Family Violence Incident

The 14-year-old son of an ICE/HSI special agent who was shot to death Wednesday night at his Carson, CA home has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Los Angeles County Sheriffs officials said Thursday

The agent, whose name has not been released, was killed by a single shot fired into his house  shortly after 9 p.m. last night.

Lt. Holly Francisco told the LA Times that the son of the agent, who has not been identified, is alleged to have fired one shot from the backyard with his fathers HSI issued handgun.

The agent, who is about 40 and had been with ICE for four years, was in a TV room on the ground floor when he was wounded in the head, Francisco said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motive for the shooting had not been determined, she said.

This was a domestic violence incident, she said.

ICE agents and sheriffs homicide investigators were at the house this morning. Police tape blocked access to the house, in a residential neighborhood of one- and two-story homes. About two dozen ICE agents gathered for a few minutes and then left, some wiping away tears.

I am deeply saddened to report that one of our ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents died tragically at his home in the Los Angeles area overnight, ICE Director John Morton said in a statement.

This is a difficult time for the family and loved ones of the agent, and for everyone at ICE, he said. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

It was the second fatal shooting of an ICE agent in the Los Angeles area this year.

In February, a confrontation between agents at the Glenn M. Anderson Building in Long Beach erupted in gunfire that left one agent dead and another seriously injured.

Ezequiel Garcia, 45, who supervised a Document and Benefit Fraud Task Force, wounded Deputy Special Agent in Charge Kevin Kozak, 51, in his upper torso, legs and hands before being shot and killed himself by a supervisor.

The incident occurred hours after an ICE agent was fatally shot in Carson, CA in what authorities say was a domestic dispute.  The victims 14-year-old son has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Dozens of officers from multiple agencies have gathered in a parking lot on South McDowell Boulevard. Police said Homeland Security Investigations agents were conducting an operation and shots were fired.

Witnesses told ABC7 News in San Jose that at least one officer was airlifted from the scene. People are being asked to stay away from the area of South McDowell and McNeil Drive.

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that Immigration the HSI agents injuries are not life threatening and one person was taken into custody at the scene.

Federal, state and local police launched a large scale gang sweep this morning in the region in connection with a 2010 triple homicide in South San Francisco, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Up to 200 agents were supposed to serve warrants at no fewer than 12 locations, the source said. The raids focused on gangs whose members gunned down three rivals as they walked on Eighth Lane on Dec. 22, 2010, as well as those who helped obstruct the police investigation, the source said.

RIP Buddy: Junior Seau 1969-2012

This afternoon I received a text that Junior Seau had died by his own hand.

Exactly one year earlier, I received a text that a former co-worker had died by his own hand. I was shocked and saddened by the news.

Tonight I saw his former team mate and friend Marcellus Wiley speak about Buddy on ESPN.  As you will see in the video below sometimes there just arent any answers to our questions.

Most people who attempt or commit suicide dont really want to die - they just want their pain and suffering to end. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.  A suicide attempt is not done to gain someones sympathy, as those that attempt to take their life do it for internal reasons-they simply cant stand the pain they feel emotionally and/or physically. It isn’t to try and get someone to feel bad for them, thats the last thing they would want.

A suicide attempt must always be taken seriously. Without intervention and proper treatment, a person who has attempted suicide is at greater risk of another attempt and possible suicide. Many people suffering from depression and even contemplating suicide hide their feelings and appear to be happy just prior to their suicide attempt.

RIP  J.P. & Junior Seau
