Stand And Fight for the Bill of Rights

For eighth grade student Jared Marcum, that phrase emblazoned on his NRA T-shirt turned out to be more than mere words — it became his rallying cry. Jared was arrested and suspended for wearing the shirt, which also displays an image of a Remington rifle, to his West Virginia school. But he stood up for his rights and when Jared returned to school following his suspension, he was not alone — dozens of students showed their support by wearing similar apparel. His family continues to fight to clear his name.

It's Not About Gun Control - It's About a Total Ban on Civilian Gun Ownership

Last night at the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas. Glenn Beck warned NRA members that the freedom of all mankind is at stake and the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

They want to fundamentally transform our country and theyve just about finished the project, Beck told an audience of thousands Saturday evening at the NRA Stand and Fight Rally, They feel they must regulate us until we comply, but I will not comply.

Neither universal background checks nor any other proposed legislation is about gun control.  ITS ALL ABOUT A TOTAL BAN AND SUBSEQUENT CONFISCATION OF CIVILIAN OWNED GUNS. PERIOD.

During his 1996 Senate campaign Obama was asked, “Do you support legislation to ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns?”  His answer was “Yes.  When campaigning for president in 2004, Obama said,  “I continue to support a [federal] ban on concealed carry.

Feinsteins “assault weapons” ban, supported by both Obama and Bloomberg would have enacted confiscation over a generation.  Gun owners would not immediately surrender their firearms, but because of the angle of the grip on the shotgun, or more than a dozen other cosmetic caveats, it would be a felony offense to pass hundreds of models of legally purchased and possessed firearms to anyone else, including family members, when you die.  Millions of guns would be confiscated by the government and destroyed over a“We’re not taking any guns away from you, just all future generations.”

James W. Porter II, who will be elected president by the NRA board of directors tomorrow said yesterday, I hear some Americans say with the last election, the country is lost. No, no. An election was lost.

Theres another election more important for the second amendment right around the corner, Porter said. With the U.S. Senate and the House (both) up for grabs, we as individual NRA members can direct the massive energy of spontaneous combustion to gain the political high ground. We do that and Obama can be stopped.

Progressives are working full time to drive a wedge between NRA leadership and its members. But their strategy is fundamentally flawed.  The NRA, like the GOP, loses members when their organizations move to the left, not to the right.  Progressives dont get it.  The average NRA member does.

Efforts to pass gun-control legislation have only made the National Rifle Association stronger, as the membership rolls now surpass a record 5 million, NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre told the gun rights groups annual meeting Saturday.

The state of the NRA is stronger and larger than it has ever been, LaPierre said during the annual meeting attended by over 75,000 NRA members. Our commitment to freedom is unwavering and our growth is unprecedented. By the time were finished, the NRA must and will be 10 million strong.

About one-tenth of the members have joined in the past six months, the NRA says.

Political elites and their allies in the media are pushing a gun-control agenda that will lead to gun confiscation and a more dangerous America.

The NRA, LaPierre said, is at the middle of the river of Americas mainstream, and what we want is exactly what most Americans want, he said.

NRA Institute for Legal Action Opens Annual Meeting in Houston

(HOUSTON)  Where we see tragedy, Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg, they see opportunity, said Chris Cox, the executive director for the NRAs Institute for Legislative Action (ILA).

While we pray for God to comfort those suffering unimaginable pain, they rush to microphones and cameras, gather in war rooms on Capitol Hill and scheme about how to use that suffering to push their political agenda, he continued. Thats who they are and what they believe, but not us.

Cox argued those who want more firearm regulations on the books are simply using the recent tragedies to push their political agendas.

We are the moms and dads and sons of daughters of the National Rifle Association, and we want to prevent Newtown, not take advantage of it, Cox said.

Wayne LaPierre, executive Vice President of the NRA described the main stream medai as distorting the gun debate in favor of gun control advocates and arguing that those in Washington and the elites are demonizing NRA members.

We know that every word spoken today and throughout this weekend is going to be scrutinized by our opponents but let me make this perfectly clear, we will never back away from our resolve to defend our rights and the rights of all law-abiding American gun owners.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he never loses faith in the founding fathers wisdom to include the Second Amendment of the Constitution among the Bill of Rights.

I wish that sentiment was found in more places, particularly a place whose boundaries are on the Potomac River, he said.

Our message to them, and our message to everyone in the country, is simple, he continued, adding a plug to the Lone Star State. There is still a place that loves freedom in America, where people can pursue their dreams free from the kneejerk government regulations that occur. That place is called Texas. That place is called Texas. We want to invite you, if youre not already here, consider coming to the place that loves freedom.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas challenged Vice President Joe Biden to a debate. Biden lead a task force for the Obama administration on coming up with a set of gun control proposals. One of his recommendations was for women to get a shotgun and fire it indiscriminately in the air if they feel threatened by a home invader.

I would like to invite the Vice President to engage in an hour long conversation and debate – how do we stop crime? And if Vice President Biden really believes the facts are on his side, that this is not simply an exercise in political power by the administration, then I think he would welcome the opportunity to talk about the sources, he said.

Tara Kyle, the widow of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, gave an emotional speech at the event, where she fought back tears to describe her husband who had become known as a hero among members of the military and gun enthusiasts. In his autobiography, he claimed he killed 160 people during five combat tours in Iraq, a record for a U.S. military sniper.

While publishers and some parts of the public are impressed with numbers of kills, that number did not interest him, a number that would have been much more important to him would have been if someone could have told him the number of lives he saved, Taya Kyle said.

Former Pennsylvania Senator and 2012 GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum warned in a broader argument that Obama was attacking Americans freedoms on a larger scale.

He also praised NRA supporters for weathering the gun control debate, calling them freedom warriors.

You stood tall–as unpopular as it seemed–but you stood for the truth. You didnt let all the smoke and the mirrors of trying to hide behind a horrible tragedy, to turn you from the truth, he said, though he received a more tepid response from the audience than some of the other speakers.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal spoke about the Obamas obsession with gun control, and the Democrats failure to control spending, the deficit. He said Obama has also failed America on health care and tax reform.

I believe he wants to be a good president, but he does have a lack of trust. He doesnt trust Americans, like you and I trust Americans. He will not succeed until that changes, he said.

Watch Senator Cruz pro-Constitution anti-crime message challenging crazy Joe Biden to an hour-long debate on gun violence.

I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them. -George Mason Co-author of the Second Amendment during Virginias Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

Crazy Joe Biden is Obama's Point Man on Gun Control

Colion Noir addresses Vice President Joe Biden’s inability to give advice on gun safety and home protection.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group. Four million members strong, NRA continues its mission to uphold Second Amendment rights and to advocate enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation’s leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the military.

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb Supports S.649

Alan Gottlieb, the chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and a power player within the conservative ACU, emailed dozens of gun rights activists on Sunday with an explanation of S.549, the Public Safety And Second Amendment Rights Protection Act.

“If you read the bill you can see all the advances for our cause that it contains like interstate sales of handguns, veteran gun rights restoration, travel with firearms protection, civil and criminal immunity lawsuit protection if you sell a gun plus more,” he wrote in the email. (The email, with the “to” field redacted, is posted below.)

Im a member of CCRKBA and a regular donor to the Second Amendment Foundation, both headed by Alan Gottlieb.  Gottlieb works tirelessly to promote and defend Second Amendment rights, including winning the McDonald case in the Supreme Court. I have the utmost respect for Alan Gottlieb.

I have not make a final decision to support or oppose the substitute bill , which Im continuing to study.  Most gun rights organizations including the NRA and GOA (I belong to both) are opposing the legislation.  The Senate is expected to vote on S.649 tomorrow (Tuesday April 16).

Redstate wrote today that,  Gottleib claimed that if a gun owner has a concealed weapons permit they will not be required to submit to a background check every time they purchase an additional firearm, instead they would merely fill out a form that will be held by the dealer as a record of sale. Now, either he’s confused, or lying, especially where background checks are concerned.

Im not aware of any Second Amendment Rights advocate who has more integrity than Alan Gottleib.  He is responsible for filing and winning dozens of Second Amendment rights cases in both state and federal courts, including some of the most significant victories in the Supreme Court.

Heres a copy of Alans email that was sent yesterday:

Subject: FYI

Just so you all know. I am in support on the Manchin-Tooney substitute bill to knock out the bad Schumer Background Check bill. I and our CCRKBA attorney lobbyist had a hand in influencing and writing parts of it.

The bill bans any federal gun registry and carries a 15 year prison term for anyone who violates it. We protect and expand a good number of pro-gun rights measures as well.

We also have an agreement that an additional amendment supported by Manchin and Toonry will be offered to even make it better by making it possible to get federal firearms rights restored negating the current Schumer legislation that blocks it.

If you read the bill you can see all the advances for our cause that it contains like interstate sales of handguns, veteran gun rights restoration, travel with firearms protection, civil and criminal immunity lawsuit protection if you sell a gun plus more. It also exempts the sale or transfer of firearms between family members and friends as well as sales outside a commercial venue from a background check. If you have any kind of current state permit to own, use or carry no check is done just the Form 4473 to stay with a dealer..

These advances for gun rights can not be made unless we win the Senate vote on Tuesday to substitute it for the current Schumer draconian background check that is in the bill at this time.

The gun grabbers have stepped into our trap.

It will be fun to see Obama forced to sign it!
